The category that I chose to research is the Language Arts field since my major is Creative Writing. The first site that I read was "University of Victoria's Writing Guide." I am actually really excited that I found this site as it is extremely helpful. It breaks everything down in a clear and concise manner. For example, if a student had to write an essay, they could go to this site and click essay and read about the different types of essays. (Informative, Persuasive, Expository, etc...) They could then see how each should be broken down and receive helpful hints along the way in order to make their essay the best it can possibly be. (I swear I'm going to use this site again.) The other site that I read was "Reading Aloud: Is it worth it?" I found this site interesting because I loved story time when I was a kid. I agree with the site that it has it's positives and it's negatives though. It is a positive because student's can actually hear the story but also emotions from the teacher's voice. It allows them to become more active in the story itself and to maintain attention. But it is a negative in the fact that some student's need to physically see the words in order to maintain them.

I, again, learned a ton on Microsoft word this week. Seriously, that whole page that you showed in class was amazing. I didn't know you could put text balloons and graphics in Word documents. It is also nice to see that you can use something other than Excel to organize things. (Which is what I usually use.) It is nice to see that some programs semi-overlap each other.

The site that I visited for assistive technology is software titled Kidspiration. It is a cool way for kids K through 5 to organize their thoughts. It allows them to use pictures, text, and sound in order to learn. It's amazing because it appeals to everyone of every learning ability. They can also be creative. The kids will have fun putting things together and hopefully it will help them in remembering and learning thigns.
